Well, I have had the idea posted for maybe a week, so now it is time to unveil what I've been cooking up in the old workshop...
The first expansion book to be released with the main rules set (and hopefully not the last) is titled The Ports of Koldhron, and deals with the port city in Tar-Koldor and the surrounding areas and important characters, such as the schemeing she-wolf Loki, secretly in league with the Dog Lord.
So far, I have the Introduction story written and Loki's history and profile done. I am working on a Davy Jones/undead type villian, but we'll see how this pans out. Here is the narrative as it stands so far...
Remus stood on the grey cobblestone docks. The majority of the port city of Koldhron slept behind her, and the sun had just begun to rise in front of her. She adjusted her triangle shaped hat to shade her purple eyes, her ears sticking out of the hat and folding over in the traditional dog fashion.
She took in a deep breath. The salty air filled her snout. There was something...odd in the wind. Something didn’t feel right to her. She looked out to sea. Dark shapes suddenly appeared on the horizon. Ships? Remus fidgeted and strayed her hand to the cutlass that hung from her belt. She strained her eyes. About a dozen galleys were racing into the bay, ships with triangular sails and maw-shaped prows.
Suddenly, a howling ripped through the air. Flaming boulders were hurled into the port city. Buildings roared as they were struck and broken asunder by the projectiles. The cries of the coyote garrison filled Remus’s ears as she dove into a longboat, her black leather overcoat billowing in the morning wind. She was not going to wait for them to fight! She rowed to the nearest, and by her judgement, the largest ship attacking the bay. Climbing the ladders on the hull, she leapt onto the deck, cutlass drawn, and a fire in her eyes.
The she-dog attacked the nearest wolves that towered over her. Her blade they soon found in their gullets as she hacked and swung her weapon with terrifying ease. Their wicker armor stood no chance against her. As they attacked back, she parried and blocked their blows. Suddenly pain filled her. She was smote on the back of the head with a club. She fell down face first. Seeing only the paws of her foes, she saw another wolf approach her. Whereas the other wolves had black fur, this one had sand colored fur. It wore a long navy blue overcoat. It looked familiar to Remus. She bent her head up and gasped. Towering over her was Loki, owner of the Tar-Koldor Shipping Company. Loki, who now was commanding the fleet of Dar-Koldorian vessels. The tall she-wolf grinned.
“Welcome aboard gentle dog. We have been expecting you...”
Comments and suggestions for more book stuff would be apprecieated. I will be working on terrain for docks, ships, and hopefully a large sea table at New Frontiers (game store) sometime soon (assuming I can land a job there), so keep tuned.
